Clive Owen and Mia Wasikowska Offered OLDBOY Remake

More casting news for the unwanted remake.

Last month it was revealed that Colin Firth (‘The King’s Speech’) had been offered the villain role in Spike Lee’s upcoming remake of ‘Oldboy.’ The news was even confirmed by the actor, but he ended up passing on the role. Now Twitch is reporting that Clive Owen has been offered the part. The British actor previously worked with Lee’s on 2006s crime-thriller ‘Inside Man.’

Another possible addition to the cast would be Mia Wasikowska. Word has emerged that ‘The Kids Are All Right’ actress has been offered the role of Marie, the female lead, the role previously linked to Rooney Mara (‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’).

The gritty thriller stars Josh Brolin as a man who is kidnapped on his daughter’s birthday and held for 15 years in solitary confinement without explanation. Upon his release, he goes on a revenge-fuelled mission to seek out his captor. He soon finds out that his kidnapper has plans for him more tortuous than solitary confinement.
