McQuarrie and Firth team for thriller…

Mike Fleming over at Deadline has learned that Christopher McQuarrie (‘Jack Reacher,’ ‘The Way of the Gun’) has signed on to direct Colin Firth in an adaptation of French author Jean-Patrick Manchette’s novel ‘Three To Kill.’

With Howard Rodman (‘Winning,’ ‘Coogan’s Bluff,’ ‘Madigan’) on board to adapt the script, the thriller is set on the coast of France and follows “a disillusioned businessman who witnesses a murder and finds himself being hunted by two relentless sociopaths.”

Andrew Lauren Productions will finance the project, with Lauren with Laura Bickford producing.

The project marks the second of Manchette’s novels to receive the Hollywood treatment. A feature based on his 2002 novel, ‘The Prone Gunman,’ is set to hit cinemas next year with Pierre Morel behind the camera, and Sean Penn, Javier Bardem, Jasmine Trinca and Idris Elba starring.
