Chris Pine talks Green Lantern

Star Trek’s Chris Pine plays down Green Lantern rumours…

Chris Pine is playing down rumours that he is has been cast in the lead role in Green Lantern.

The new Captain Kirk has confirmed that he discussed the possibility of joining the Michel Gondry film but said that is as far as it went:

“I had a meeting with [casting director] Pam Dixon and [executive producer] Donald De Line, but a meeting was all it was. I have not been offered squat. I do not have the part and haven’t read a script.”

Pine added: “I’m not a big comic book fan… I’m a fan of stories, so if there’s a story to be told, I love to tell a good story. But, there’s not a particular superhero or comic book character that I’d like to play.”

Other potential candidates for the role include Terminator Salvation star Sam Worthington, Mad Men’s John Hamm and Firefly actor Nathan Fillion.

The film is scheduled to begin production in Australia later this year.
