Chris O’Dowd Joins THE COWARD

O’Dowd boards the indie.

Irish actor and comedian Chris O’Dowd is said to be reuniting with his ‘Girls’ co-star Adam Driver for the indie period comedy ‘The Coward.’

Based on a play by Nick Jones, the comedy is set in 18th century England and follows a cowardly young gentleman named Lucidus Culling (Driver) who, in order to please his blowhard father, initiates a pistol duel. However, instead of going through with it, Lucidus hires common criminal Henry Blaine (O’Dowd) to fight in his place on the field of honour, only to have the scoundrel make a bloody mess of things.

Max Winkler (‘Ceremony’) is attached to direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Matt Spicer.

‘The Coward’ is being financed by Big Beach Films, with Peter Saraf and Marc Turtletaub producing with Ravi Nandan and Scot Armstrong of American Work.
