Chris O’Dowd in Talks for ST. VINCENT DE VAN NUYS

Irish star in talks for supporting role.

‘The Sapphires’ and ‘Bridemaids’ star Chris O’Dowd is in early talks to join Bill Murray and Melissa McCarthy on the cast of the coming-of-age tale ‘St. Vincent De Van Nuys.’

With Ted Melfi directing from his Black List script, the dramatic comedy is about a cantankerous retiree (Murray) with a penchant for drinking, gambling and prostitutes, who takes under his wing the 12-year-old son of a struggling single mother (McCarthy) who has moved in next door.

If a deal can be reached, O’Dowd would be playing a sympathetic priest shocked to see the influence Murray’s character has on an angelic young boy. Filming on the $13 million movie is set to begin in July.

Chernin Entertainment’s Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping are on board to produce along with Fred Roos, and Don Cheadle, who is producing through his Crescendo Production banner.
