Chris Evans Replacing James Franco on THE ICEMAN

Deadline is reporting that Chris Evans (‘Captain America: The First Avenger’) has closed a deal to replace James Franco on the cast of the Ariel Vromen’s indie thriller ‘The Iceman.’

Based the Anthony Bruno book, and tells the electrifying true story of Richard Kuklinski aka “The Iceman,” a notorious mob contract killer and loving family man who earned his nickname by freezing the bodies of his victims, disguising the time of death.

Michael Shannon is attached to play Kuklinski, with Ray Liotta, Maggie Gyllenhaal, David Schwimmer and Ryan O’Nan (‘Eat Pray Love’) on board in supporting roles. Evans replaces Franco in the role of Robert Pronge, Kuklinski’s mentor assassin known as Mr. Softee.

‘The Iceman’ is set to kick off production next month with a screenplay penned by Vromen and Morgan Land.
