Chris Columbus Acquires Anne Rice’s CHRIST THE LORD: OUT OF EGYPT

Columbus to produce the story of Jesus’ childhood.

‘Harry Potter’ director Chris Columbus’ 1492 Pictures has teamed with CJ Entertainment to acquire the feature film rights to Anne Rice novel ‘Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt,’ reports Variety.

Released in 2005 the book tells the story of a seven-year-old Jesus, who departs Egypt with his family to return home to Nazareth and discovers the truth about his birth, who he is, and his purpose in life.

 ‘The Stoning of Soraya M’ helmer Cyrus Nowrasteh is attached to direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with Betsy Nowrasteh. 

“This film has the potential to be a cinematic classic, a picture that will appeal to all ages, all around the world,” Columbus said. “I am proud to be part of this incredible production.”
