Audiences go for furry creatures over blue aliens at the box office
Movie analysts admited to being shocked this week when Alvin and the chipmunks 2 beat the multi-million dollar budget blockbuster Avatar at the US box office. when going head to head on Wednesday.
Alvin took in $20 million on its first day compared to $16 million taken in by Avatar. Alvin’s victory shouldn’t worry Fox too much, because the studio is behind two movies but no one expected Alvin to perform so well, in particular no one expected it to out perform one of the most hyped movies of the year.
