Charlize Theron Joining Paul Thomas Anderson

PTA’s trippy tale eyeing Theron for role?

It’s been a while since we’ve had any news regarding Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Inherent Vice,’ now Showbiz 411 has an update for us. According to news outlet, Robert Downey, Jr. is still attached, with Charlize Theron possibly joining him, along with more names to be announced.

Penned by PTA and based on the 2009 novel by experimental writer Thomas Pynchon, ‘Inherent Vice’ is set at the tail end of the psychedelic sixties and follows Larry “Doc” Sportello, a private investigator and “pothead” who uncovers a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer.

While there is no word on what part Theron would be taking, it should be safe to assume that the ‘Prometheus’ star is being lined up for the role of Doc’s ex-girlfriend, Shasta Fay Hepworth, who sets the psychedelic romp in motion.

Megan Ellison of Annapurna Productions is producing with PTA planning to shoot the film sometime this year.
