Charlie Hunnam Leads KNIGHTS OF THE ROUNDTABLE: KING ARTHUR

Will topline the retelling of the King Arthur legend…

‘Sons Of Anarchy’ star Charlie Hunnam and Àstrid Bergès-Frisbey (‘I Origins,’ ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’) have scored the lead roles in Guy Ritchie’s ‘Knights of the Roundtable: King Arthur,’ says Deadline.

Hunnam will take the role of Arthur, with the Spanish actress playing Guinevere. Other actresses believed to have been in the running for the coveted female lead include Elizabeth Olsen, Alicia Vikander, and Felicity Jones.

Hunnam’s ‘Pacific Rim’ co-star Idris Elba recently signed on for the supporting role of Bedivere, the right-hand man to Arthur’s father who serves as a mentor to the young Knight as he learns his true destiny. Penned by Joby Harold (‘Awake’), the fantasy epic is the first a proposed six-part retelling of the King Arthur legend.

Akiva Goldsman is on board to produce via Weed Road, alongside Harold and Safehouse Pictures partner Tory Tunnell. Ritchie’s partner Lionel Wigram will co-produce.
