Catherine Zeta-Jones (‘Rock of Ages,’ ‘ RED 2’) has scored the lead in Norwegian helmer Eva Sørhaug’s true crime drama ‘The Godmother,’
Deadline reports. Frank Baldwin is on board to pen the screenplay, which will chronicle the rise and fall of notorious drug Queenpin Griselda Blanco, the first and only woman in history to head a major Colombian drug network.
Daniela Cretu and Branko Lustig of First Born Films will produce, with ‘Goodfellas’ author Nicholas Pileggi serving as executive producer.
‘The Godmother’ is scheduled to begin filming early next year.
