Cate Blanchett has reportedly signed up to play Maid Marian in Sir Ridley Scott’s forthcoming film “Nottingham”.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, Mark Strong, who will play Sir Guy of Gisbourne, linked Blanchett to the part:
“I think Cate Blanchett is set to take the Maid Marian part; “She is a wonderful actress and it would make it a much classier film if she was in it.”
The film, scripted by Ethan Reiff, Cyrus Voris and Brian Helgeland is a revisionist take on the Robin Hood tale focusing on the Sheriff of Nottingham (Crowe) as a noble and brave lawman who labours for a corrupt king and engages in a love triangle with Maid Marion and Robin Hood
Sienna Miller was original cast as the female heroine but was reportedly deemed too slim and youthful for the part.
