Carey Mulligan (‘Far From The Madding Crowd,’ ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’) and Meryl Streep (‘August: Osage County’) are attached to star in the Pathe Films and Film4 drama ‘Suffragette,’ according to reports.

With Sarah Gavron (‘Brick Lane’) directing from a script by Abi Morgan (‘The Invisible Woman,’ ‘The Iron Lady’), the story focuses on the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement: women who were forced underground to pursue a dangerous game of cat and mouse with an increasingly brutal State.

Mulligan plays a woman instrumental to the early feminist movement, with Streep playing iconic political activist Emmeline Pankhurst.

Brendan Gleeson (‘Calvary,’ ‘The Guard’), Ben Whishaw (‘Skyfall,’ ‘Perfume: The Story of a Murderer’), Helena Bonham Carter (‘Cinderella,’ ‘The Young and Prodigious T.S. Spivet’), Anne-Marie Duff (‘Closed Circuit’), and Romola Garai (‘The Last Days on Mars’) are on board for supporting roles.

Faye Ward and Alison Owen will produce with Film4’s Katherine Butler and Cameron McCracken of Pathe serving as executive producer. Filming is set to begin in February
