CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Helmers In Talks for Third Outing

Sibling directors may return for third film…

Word is coming from Variety that Marvel is looking to recruit ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ directing duo Anthony and Joe Russo for the Star-Spangled Avenger’s third solo adventure.

According to the trade’s sources, Marvel has been very impressed with the production of the sequel, as well as with reviews from test screenings, that it has already put out an offer to the Russos.

The sibling directors are apparently already working with Marvel on an outline for the third film’s story arc. Anthony and Joe, who previously directed over 30 episodes of ‘Community’ including the recent ‘Bon Troyage’ episode, stepped in to direct ‘Winter Soldier’ after Joe Johnson helmed the first installment.

Influenced by the conspiracy thrillers of the seventies, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ finds Steve Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Cap struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon (Anthony Mackie). However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan).

‘Captain America: The Winter’ Soldier hits Irish cinemas March 26th.
