Eckhart and Freeman also returning…
Screen Daily has learned that a sequel to Antoine Fuqua’s action-thriller ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ in officially in the works, with Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart and Morgan Freeman all on board to reprise their roles.
Titled ‘London Has Fallen,’ the sequel focuses on “a plot to strike the city during the funeral of the British Prime Minister. Only the President Of The United States (Eckhart), his Secret Service head (Butler) and an English MI6 agent can save the day.”
Angela Bassett and Radha Mitchell (‘Pitch Black’) will also return.
Original scribes Katrin Benedikt and Creighton Rothenberger are back on board to pen the screenplay with filming to commence May 2014. A director has not yet been named.
Butler and G-Base partner Alan Siegel, Mark Gill, Matt O’Toole and Danny Lerner will produce, while Avi Lerner, Trevor Short, Boaz Davidson, John Thompson and Christine Crow are on board to executive produce.
