Buffys Gellar Decides To Die

Former Slayer to star in Paulo Coelho’s ‘Veronika Decides to Die’

Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final negotiations to star in the film version of Paulo Coelho’s best-selling book ‘Veronika Decides to Die’.

Gellar will replace Superman’s Kate Bosworth who was originally signed on to the title role.

The film centres on a young woman suffering from depression who rediscovers the joy in life when she learns she has only days to live following a suicide attempt. Emily Young will direct the film.

Now, we here at Movies.ie like Sarah Michelle Gellar but we’d be the first to admit that the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayers’ former Chosen One has chosen some questionable films in recent years; ‘Southland Tales’, ‘Scooby Doo’ et al. Here’s hoping dying in ‘Veronika Decides to die’ will give her movie career/selection a new lease of life!

TIDBIT: Gellar appeared in the first commerical to ever mention a competitor by name. In 1982 she starred in a Burger King commerical in which she utters the line ‘I only eat at Burger King’. The result- Gellar and Burger King were sued by McDonald’s and she couldn’t enter a McDonald’s unless in disguise. Ironically, McDonald’s was a sponsor for her hit TV show ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’
