Filmmaker Peter Bogdanovich (‘Paper Moon,’ ‘The Last Picture Show’) has cast Brie Larson (’21 Jump Street,’ ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. the World’) as the lead in his new project, ‘Squirrels to the Nuts,’ a quirky indie comedy that will co-star Owen Wilson and Olivia Wilde.
Penned by Bogdanovich and produced by Wes Anderson and Noah Baumbach, the screwball comedy follows “a hooker-turned-Broadway-thesp (Larson) and the recurring intersection of those two facets of her life.”
Per Variety, Wilson has been cast as a Broadway director who pays for the Larson’s services despite being married to the star of the play. Wilde will play a therapist whose own mother is in rehab for alcoholism.
‘Moonrise Kingdom’ star Jason Schwartzman has been linked to the project but has yet to be confirmed.
