Brian Wilson Biopic LOVE & MERCY Adds John Cusack and Paul Giamatti

Two more join the Bill Pohlad-directed indie.

John Cusack (‘The Frozen Ground,’ ‘High Fidelity,’ ‘Grosse Point Blank’) is set to join Paul Dano (‘Ruby Sparks,’ ‘Looper’) on the cast of filmmaker Bill Pohlad’s indie movie ‘Love & Mercy.’

Scripted by Oren Moverman (‘The Messenger’) the film will take a look at the life of the reclusive musician from his early success with the ’60s surfing band The Beach Boys to his highly-publicized nervous breakdown, to his recent re-emergence as an acclaimed singer-songwriter-performer.

As previously reported, Dano playing Wilson as a young man, and according to TheWrap, Cusack will portray the troubled frontman during his later years.

‘Sideways’ star Paul Giamatti is also on board, taking the role of Wilson’s therapist Dr. Eugene Landy. The actor will move on to the project after he wraps the villainous role of Rhino in Marc Webb’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’

Pohlad (‘The Tree of Life’) is producing the project with John Wells and Claire Rudnick Polstein of John Wells Productions. Moverman will executive produce alongside Jim Lefkowitz.
