Brandt Begins Countdown

Photo-animated feature documentary, uniquely narrated by the 10 people who knew Bill best.

A new film based on an episode of the Twilight Zone is in the works. The film called ‘Countdown’ will be based on the episode ‘Deathship; which centred on a group of astronaunts stranded on a distant planet. There, in typical Twilight Zone’ fashion, the crew discover a spaceship that appears to hold their own corpses- eerie!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Brandt will make his directorial debut with the film, and he and writing partner Derek Haas (3:10 to Yuma, 2 Fast 2 Furious) are currently working on their own version of Stephen Gregg and Scott Burn’s original screenplay.

“Countdown is fantastic because it wraps the themes of fate and predestination in a movie that is really a giant puzzle [that will also] be fun for the audience to piece together,” Brandt explained. The film will have a budget of around $30m, although there’s no word on a start date yet.

TIDBIT: Orson Welles was to narrator/host the Twilight Zone but the producers felt that he asked for too much money.
