Brad Peyton to Write & Direct LOBO

Comic book adaptation back in development.

Deadline has word that Warner Bros. is looking to revive its live-action adaptation of the DC Comics franchise ‘Lobo,’ and has tapped ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ director Brad Peyton to write and direct.

Created by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen, Lobo was first introduced in 1983 as a hardened villain. The character took a backseat to other DC Comics characters before he was revived in the 90s as an anti-hero biker. With a knack for destruction and violence the 7-foot tall and heavily muscled alien works as an interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter.

Long-in-development, the project previously had Guy Ritchie attached to direct but that iteration got stuck in development hell when the ‘Sherlock Holmes’ director stepped away.
