Brad Bird for Mission Impossible IV

Incredibles director to talk on the Impossible?

Brad Bird is in talks to direct Mission: Impossible IV.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, producer J.J. Abrams and star Tom Cruise have been meeting with filmmakers for the spy sequel. Bird, who also helmed animation The Iron Giant, is a contender for the job along with Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland) and Edgar Wright (Shaun Of The Dead) also in the running.

Wright admitted that it is unlikely he would be able to take on the project due to his work on the  upcoming comedy Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World.

“It’s true, though probably a mission impossible to accept since I’m not done with SP and it starts soon. Nice to be thought of,” the director wrote on his Twitter page.

Mission: Impossible IV will begin production this summer.
