BORED TO DEATH Movie in Development

Cult series heading to the big screens.

Fans of the cancelled-too-soon HBO series ‘Bored To Death’ rejoice, THR is reporting that a feature-length film is officially in development over at HBO Films.

Created and scripted by author Jonathan Ames, the cult series followed the quirky adventures of a fictional Jonathan Ames— a Brooklyn-based novelist and writer who moonlights as an unlicensed private – played by Jason Schwartzman. Co-starring Zach Galifianakis and Ted Danson, the series ran for three seasons.

Described as feature-length slapstick adventure, the film will see “Jonathan, Ray, and George reunite to fight crime, commit crime, lose their minds and fail at love.”

Ames will write the big screen outing as well as produce alongside Sarah Condon and Stephanie Davis. Schwartzman, Galifianakis and Danson will return to reprise their roles.
