‘Prisoners’ and ‘Incendies’ helmer Denis Villeneuve is teaming up with Emily Blunt (‘Into The Woods,’ ‘Looper’) for the police thriller ‘Sicario,’ says Variety.
The film will see Blunt playing an officer from Tucson, Arizona who travels across the border to Mexico with a pair of mercenaries to track down a drug lord. The script comes from actor-turned-scribe Taylor Sheridan.
Villeneuve is set to shoot ‘Sicario’ this summer, before moving on to ‘Story of Your Life,’ a sci-fi thriller that reportedly has ‘American Hustle’ star Amy Adams in talks for the lead.
Penned by Eric Heisserer (‘The Thing,’ ‘Final Destination 5’), the thriller is based on a short story by Ted Chiang and centres on Dr. Louise Banks, an expect linguist who is recruited by the American government to communicate with extra-terrestrials that have arrived on Earth.
