Billy Bob Thornton and Forest Whitaker Want OUT OF THE FURNACE

Thornton and Whitaker circle revenge thriller.

It appears that Scott Cooper’s revenge thriller ‘Out of the Furnace,’ starring Christian Bale, Zoe Saldana and Casey Affleck, has now gained the interest of Billy Bob Thornton (‘Bad Santa’) and Forest Whitaker (‘Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai’).

Penned by Brad Ingelsby, the film follows Slim (Bale), “a man released after serving years in prison for murder, and who only wants to follow through on his promise to marry his long-suffering girlfriend (Saldana). That’s until his younger brother (Affleck) gets murdered after getting involved in a gambling racket, and it becomes all about revenge.”

Viggo Mortensen (‘A Dangerous Method’) was previously believed to be circling the role of the villain, but Deadline now reports that Thornton has emerged as a possible for the part, while Whitaker is said to be circling the role of a “sleazy bookie.”
