Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel now confirmed to star; Ethan Hawk to make a cameo.
Heat Vision reports that Bill Nighy is in negotiations to join Colin Farrell and Bryan Cranston for the Len Wiseman-directed remake of ‘Total Recall.’ The ‘Underworld’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor will play Quatto, leader of the resistance. As previously reported Wiseman’s movie will stay closer to Phillip K. Dick’s short story ‘We Can Remember It For You Wholesale.’
Set in a future where the world has been divided into two nation states, Euromerica and New Shanghai. Douglas Quaid (Farrell) is a factory worker in New Shanghai who discovers that he may actually be a spy, but he doesn’t know for which side. Cranston plays villain Vilos Cohaagen, “who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai.” Bokeem Woodbine will co-star as Quaid’s friend. Ethan Hawk is also on board for a cameo, but his role is being kept under wraps.
Kate Beckinsale and Jessica Biel have been officially cast for the female leads. Beckinsale will play Douglas Quaid’s wife Lori, while Biel will play Quaid’s former lover and ally, Melina.
Wiseman is working from a script by Kurt Wimmer, Mark Bomback, and James Vanderbilt. Production on the sci-fi thriller begins next week.
