Variety is reporting that the ever-busy Benedict Cumberbatch has landed a role alongside Emma Stone (‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ ‘Gangster Squad’) and Charlie Hunnam (‘Pacific Rim,’ ‘Sons of Anarchy’) in Guillermo del Toro’s haunted house thriller ‘Crimson Peak.’

Set to begin filming February 2014, the gothic horror story centres on a woman who discovers that her husband may not be whom he appears to be. Del Toro previously described ‘Crimson Peak’ as a Bronte-esque “gothic romance with ghosts. Dark and stormy and wind-swept.”

Cumberbatch, who is currently shooting the third season of ‘Sherlock,’ will next be seen on the big screen in the highly anticipated ‘Star Trek Into Darkness.’ He follows that up with Steve McQueen’s ‘12 Years a Slave,’ the John Wells-directed ‘August: Osage County’ and Peter Jackson’s second intallment of ‘The Hobbit,’ ‘The Desolation of Smaug.’
