Ben Affleck Eyes Afghanistan War Drama RED PLATOON

‘Justice League’ star Ben Affleck may have found his next directing gig, with the folks over The Tracking Board word that the talented filmmaker is in talks to take the helm for the war drama ‘Red Platoon.’

Based on the memoir by Clinton Romesha, Red Platoon tells the story of the Battle of Kamdesh, which took place during the War in Afghanistan.

On Oct. 3, 2009, more than 300 Taliban fighters launched a predawn raid on Outpost Keating, a remote and controversial American outpost near the Afghan-Pakistani border, overrunning its perimeter defences and breaching its wire. Staff Sgt. Romesha, a husband and father of three children, planned and led a small band of soldiers in a counterattack against seemingly insurmountable odds, saving dozens of American lives, and ultimately receiving the Congressional Medal of Honor for his actions.

According to the outlet’s sources, Ben’s brother Casey Affleck could be in the running for the role of Romesha. The brothers last worked together on Ben’s directorial debut ‘Gone Baby Gone’ in 2007.

Producers behind ‘Red Platoon’ include George Clooney and Smokehouse Pictures partner Grant Heslov, Josh Bratman of Immersive Pictures and Kerry Foster.
