Iconic singer getting new biopic…
Aussie filmmaker Baz Luhrmann (‘The Great Gatsby,’ ‘Romeo + Juliet,’ ‘Moulin Rouge!’) is reportedly gearing up to direct an untitled Elvis Presley biopic for Warner Bros.
Kelly Marcel (‘Fifty Shades of Grey,’ ‘Saving Mr. Banks’) is on board to provide the screenplay, and according to the folks over at TheWrap, the studio has secured rights to all the hip-gyrating King of Rock and Roll’s catalogue for the project.
Gail Berman of Tecumseh Productions is attached to produce, with Andrew Mittman of Whalerock Industries serving as executive producers.
It is expected that Luhrmann’s Oscar-winning wife Catherine Martin will come on board as costume designer, and possibly production designer as well.
