New Belfast based horror pic receives warm response.
Battle of the Bones, a Belfast based horror flick, premiered this weekend to a warm response.
Described as the ‘Troubles movie with a twist’, the film follows the exploits of a group of friends as they try to stop an army of drug-crazed zombies from taking over Belfast.
The low-budget movie, shot for just £10,000, was officially unveiled to hundreds of guests at Storm Cinemas at the weekend.
“It’s about both sides of the community realising that there’s a bigger threat out there and joining together to stop the zombies,” said director George Clarke.
“It’s the first of its kind. It’s a blend of action movie and horror movie, but it’s about Northern Ireland. As film-makers we’re sick of films coming out of here that are always based on the Troubles. The whole point of the film was to make an absurd twist on the Troubles and put a nail in the coffin, so to speak.”
Helmer Clarke, who is from east Belfast, said that the movie had already generated plenty of buzz on the movie grapevine.
“We’ve had reports back from America, Canada, Hong Kong and Holland,” he said.
Battle of the Bone is on limited release at Storm Cinemas in the Odyssey Complex (Belfast) for two weeks.
