Actor is finalizing a deal to appear in the Stephen King adaptation.
Deadline reports that Javier Bardem (‘Biutiful,’ ‘Vicky Cristina Barcelona’) is about to close his deal to play gunslinger Roland Deschain in ‘The Dark Tower,’ the mammoth adaptation of the Stephen King 7-novel series that’ll span three movies and a limited run TV series in between each film.
Ron Howard will direct from a script by Akiva Goldsman (‘The Da Vinci Code’). The screenwriter has also penned the first segment of the television series. Production on the first film is set to being in September.
The Dark Tower series is a series of seven books written by author Stephen King which incorporates multiple genres, including fantasy, science fiction, horror and Western elements. They follow gunslinger Roland Deschain’s quest toward a tower whose nature the books call both physical and metaphorical.
