Bale Rumoured To Lead Dark Tower Adaptation

From ‘Dark Knight’ to ‘Dark Tower?’

With a release date of 2013, the casting for “The Dark Tower” is going to run rampant for a little while and the latest bit of news comes from The New York Post. According to The Post, Christian Bale is now rumoured to be the front runner for Ron Howard’s Dark Tower adaptation.

Bale, fresh off his Golden Globes win and Best Supporting Actor Oscar nod for his work in ‘The Fighter,’ is apparently Ron Howard and Stephen King’s top choice for the lead role of antihero Roland Deschain. He has moved ahead of previously rumored Viggo Mortensen and Javier Bardem.

In related news, Jennifer Carpenter (”Dexter,” “Quarantine”) is said to be shortlisted for the role of Susannah Dean along with Moraccan actress Ghita Tazi. We presume they join the previously rumored Naomie Harris.

The supposed plan for ‘Dark Tower’ is to start with a blockbuster movie, then continue the story with a TV series, followed by a second film, and then a second TV season showing gunslinger Deschain as a young man. Finally, the third movie will end the saga with Deschain as an older man.
