We take a look at 10 films to get excited about in the final months of 2013…

As we head into the final four months of 2013, and summer blockbuster season starts to wind down, we take a look at the films we are still excited about seeing this year.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD
Release Date: October 30th

We return to the Marvel superheroes universe as Thor takes on a new threat in the aftermath of the events of MARVEL’S AVENGERS ASSEMBLE.
All the cast from the first film has returned, including Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgard and Natalie Portman. Former DOCTOR WHO actor Christopher Eccleston will also appear in the film, along with our own Chris O’Dowd.
Since Tom Hiddleston said this week that Loki will not appear in AVENGERS 2, we are sure that the actor will pull out all the evil stops this time out.

ELYSIUM
Release Date: August 21st

Matt Damon stars in director Neill Blomkamp’s follow up to DISTRICT 9. In the not too distant future, the Earth is overcrowded and resources are running out. The rich have moved to an orbiting space station named Elysium, leaving the poor to fend for themselves on the ruined planet. Max (Matt Damon) is an ex-con trying to earn enough money for a ticket to Elysium, but an accident at work means he need to speed up his plan.
ELYSIUM also stars Jodie Foster and Blomkamp regular Sharlto Copley.

GRAVITY
Release Date: October 4th

Alfonso Cuarón’s film follows the fates of two astronauts after an accident leaves them adrift in space. OK, this doesn’t sound incredibly interesting, but the trailer has us on the edge of our seats every time we watch it!
GRAVITY stars Sandra Bullock and George Clooney

THE WAY WAY BACK
Release Date: August 28th

From the writing team that brought us THE DESCENDANTS, comes a story of young love and fitting in; shy 14-year-old Duncan goes on summer vacation with his mother, her overbearing boyfriend, and her boyfriend’s daughter. Having a rough time fitting in, Duncan finds an unexpected friend in Owen, manager of the Water Wizz water park.
Jim Rash and Nat Faxon make their directorial debut with THE WAY WAY BACK, which stars Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janney and Sam Rockwell.

THE CONSELOR
Release Date: November 15th

A lawyer, played by Michael Fassbender, finds himself in over his head when he gets involved with drug trafficking.
THE CONSELOR also stars Javier Bardem – with another amazing hair do – Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz. The screenplay for the film was written by Cormac McCarthy, marking his first original screenplay, and will be dedicated to the memory of director Ridley Scott’s brother, Tony Scott.
