Director steps away from Tupac biopic for boxing drama with Eminem.
24 Frames is reporting that ‘Training Day’ director Antoine Fuqua, who was previously attached to direct a biopic about the life of Tupac Shakur, is in talks with Dreamworks to helm the boxing drama ‘Southpaw’ with Eminem in the lead.
Eminem, who hasn’t taken a lead role since 2002’s ‘8 Mile,’ would play a left-handed welterweight who has fought his way to the title, only to see his world crash down around him due to tragedy. He now has to fight to win back his life for his young daughter.
The project was written and conceived by ‘Sons of Anarchy’ creator Kurt Sutter.
