Anthony Mackie Circling Roles in WORLD WAR Z and GANGSTER SQUAD

Hurt Locker actor reportedly eyeing two high profile projects.

Variety reports that Anthony Mackie (‘Adjustment Bureau,’ ‘The Hurt Locker’) has been offered a role in the zombie epic ‘World War Z;’ the trade also reports that the actor is being eyed for a role in Ruben Fleischer’s ‘Gangster Squad.’

Based on the book by Max Brooks, ‘World War Z’ is set 10 years after a global zombie epidemic and is an oral history told from various perspectives. The Marc Forster-directed adaptation will star Brad Pitt. Mireille Enos is in talks to join the project.

‘Gangster Squad’ is a period crime drama based on the Los Angeles Times’ article ‘Tales from the Gangster Squad,’ the story follows the LAPD’s secret squad of mercenary cops assigned to hunt down the infamous gangster Mickey Cohen, a member of the Jewish Mafia in the 40s, the movie is set to star Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling and Josh Brolin.

Mackie is currently shooting ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ with Timur Bekmambetov in the director’s chair. The actor will next be seen starring alongside Hugh Jackman in ‘Real Steel’ when it arrives in Irish cinemas later this year.
