Anne Hathaway Boards THE LIFEBOAT

Actress will produce and star.

THR is reporting Oscar-winning ‘Les Misérables’ star Anne Hathaway is to produce and star in an adaptation of Charlotte Rogan’s 2012 novel ‘The Lifeboat.’

Set in 1914, the book centres on Grace Winter, a young newlywed and widow who is on trial for murder. The young woman recounts the tale of how she survived the sinking the elegant ocean liner, The Empress Alexandra, with the help of her new husband only to end up on a lifeboat. However, the lifeboat is already perilously overcrowded and the passengers soon discover that for any to survive, some must die.

William Broyles Jr. (‘Flags of Our Fathers,’ ‘Castaway,’ ‘Apollo 13’) is on board to provide the script with Hathaway producing alongside Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Liza Chasin. Suzan Bymel and Ben Forkner of Film 360 will co-produce.
