Anna Kendrick In Talks for INTO THE WOODS

Casting continues for star-studded musical.

Anna Kendrick (‘Pitch Perfect,’ ‘The Company You Keep’), award winning actress/comedienne Tracey Ullman, and young ‘Les Misérables’ star Daniel Huttlestone are all in talks to join the all-star cast of Rob Marshall’s ‘Into the Woods.’

Based on the 1980’s Broadway musical, the musical is a darkly comic mash-up of classic fairy tales and revolves around a childless baker (James Corden) and his wife (Emily Blunt) who attempt to lift a family curse by journeying into the woods to confront the witch (played by Meryl Streep) that put the spell on them. Along the way, the couple encounters classic fairy tale characters like Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, and the Big Bad Wolf (Johnny Depp).

THR hears that Kendrick is eyeing the role of Cinderella, who is married to a vain prince played by Chris Pine (‘Star Trek into Darkness’). Huttlestone, who portrayed Gavroche in Tom Hooper’s Oscar-nominated blockbuster ‘Les Misérables,’ is lined up for the role of Jack the Giant Killer, with Ullman playing his mother. As previously reported, Jake Gyllenhaal is also circling a role.

Marshall will be directing from a screenplay by James Lapine, based on his book for the musical. Composer David Krane (‘Chicago,’ ‘Nine’) is working on the music.
