Animated SPIDER-MAN Feature Finds Its Director

Bob Persichetti, an animator who was the head of story on ‘Puss in Boots ‘and ‘The Little Prince,’ has been tapped to direct Sony Pictures Animation’s animated ‘Spider-Man’ feature, says THR.

Plot details are of course under wraps, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours that this ‘Spider-Man’ outing will revolve around Miles Morales, the half-black and half Hispanic teenager who replaced Peter Parker in the comic series.

The powerhouse duo of Phil Lord and Chris Miller (‘Untitled Han Solo Star Wars Anthology Film, ‘The LEGO Movie,’ ‘21 Jump Street’) are on board to produce, with Lord providing the script.

In addition to announcing Persichetti’s hiring, Sony Pictures Animation revealed that a third instalment of ‘Hotel Transylvania’ is in the works with Genndy Tartakovsky directing.

The studio will also produce ‘Ghostbuster: Ecto Force,’ a new animated TV series that will help expand Sony’s ‘Ghosbusters’ cinematic universe. Set in the year 2050, the series will follow an entirely new generation of Ghostbusters who capture ghosts around the world with help from local teams.
