AMERICAN PASTORAL Adaptation Will Mark Ewan McGregor’s Directorial Debut

‘Salt’ director Phillip Noyce exits the adaptation…

Ewan McGregor (‘Son of a Gun’) will make his feature directorial debut on ‘American Pastoral,’ the long-gesting adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Philip Roth.

Starring McGregor, Jennifer Connelly (‘Noah,’ ‘ Requiem for a Dream’), and Dakota Fanning (‘Very Good Girls,’ ‘The Last of Robin Hood’), ‘American Pastoral’ follows Seymour “Swede” Levov, a legendary high school athlete, who grows up to marry a former beauty queen and inherits his father’s business. Swede’s seemingly perfect life shatters when his daughter rebels by becoming a revolutionary and commits a deadly act of political terrorism during the Vietnam War.

McGregor replaces Phillip Noyce (‘Salt’), who had been attached to the project for more than a decade. Filming is set to kick off in September in Pittsburg with ‘The Lincoln Lawyer’ scribe John Romano providing the script.
