Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar reteam for ‘Broken Embraces’.
Penelope Cruz and filmmaker Pedro Almodovar are set reunite for a fifth feature film.
The pair, who worked together on the highly acclaimed film Volver (for which Cruz recived an Oscar nod), will work on ‘Broken Embraces’, which just got picked up for distribution by Sony Pictures Classics in the United States.
The film, written and directed by Almodovar, is described as an amour fou (passionate love) involving four characters in the style of a hard-boiled, ’50s American film noir. Cruz will be joined by Blanca Portillo, Lluis Homar and Jose Luis Gomez as the four characters. It’s currently shooting in Madrid and the Canary Islands and will most likely hit theaters sometime in 2009.
This will mark Almodovar’s 10th collaboration with Sony Pictures Classics.
