ALF Movie in Development at Sony Animation

The sarcastic alien with a penchant for eating cats is back.

THR has learned that Sony Animation has acquired the rights to the classic 1980s sitcom ‘ALF’ with plans to develop the property into a CG/live action hybrid feature.

Airing from 1986 to 1990, the show centred on a loveable, sarcastic, furry alien from planet Melmac who crash landed on Earth and took up with the Tanners, a suburban family.

The series spawned a TV movie, animated series, comic books and even a TV talk-show.

Jordan Kerner, who worked on the CG/live action hybrid reboot of ‘The Smurfs,’ is producing the project with show creators Tom Patchett and Paul Fusco, the voice and puppeteer of the title character.
