Alexandra McGuinnes Directing THE HIGHWAY IS FOR GAMBLERS

Desert-set indie will being filming next month…

Irish writer-director Alexandra McGuinnes has begun casting her next feature, the indie thriller ‘The Highway Is For Gamblers,’ enlisting Bonnie Wright (‘Harry Potter’) and Nikki Reed (‘The Twilight Saga’) for the lead roles.

Per Deadline, the indie is the tale of two friends who live in a small desert community sandwiched between a prison and a military base. When Jane (Reed) goes missing, Heidi (Wright) searches the desert for her friend, and in the process uncovers secrets and the violence of life on the road.

Swedish actor Gustaf Skarsgård, best known for his role as Floki in the hit series ‘Vikings,’ and pop singer Joe Jonas also star.

McGuinnes, who made her directorial debut with the 2011 drama ‘Lotus Eaters,’ is aiming to get the cameras rolling in November, with filming to take place in California’s San Bernardino County.

The filmmaker and her producers have set up a Kickstarter campaign to help raise $165,000 in finishing funds.
