Alan Rickman Heading to CBGB

Brit actor to play founder of the seminal rock club.

‘Harry Potter’ star Alan Rickman is to reunite with his ‘Bottle Shock’ and ‘Nobel Son’ director Randall Miller for an indie flick centered on New York rock club ‘CBGB,’ reports Variety.

Rickman will portray Hilly Kristal, the famed owner and founder of the iconic and influential club that served as the birthplace of underground music scene of the 1970s and 80s. The film will tell of the rise of the club as it helped launch the careers of bands such as Blondie, The Ramones, Bad Brains, The Misfits, The Beastie Boys, Sick of it All, Talking Heads, Patti Smith and more. We can’t wait to hear the soundtrack.

Miller will be directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with frequent collaborator Jody Savin. Production is expected to kick off next month before Miller moves on to direct his Dennis Wilson biopic ‘The Drummer.’
