Production on ‘Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins’ gets officially underway today and with it a major change for the franchise.

The film, which is set for a May 22, 2009 release, is being billed as a more family friendly film.

According to reports, producers at  Halcyon Co. are hoping to broaden the movie’s audience with a PG-13 rating that they believe will not compromise the franchise’s hard edge. “The ratings have changed,” said Halcyon exec Victor Kubicek. “The PG-13 has increased in intensity.”
