A ROYAL AFFAIR Director to Helm FABLES Adaptation

Award-winning comic getting big screen treatment.

Heat Vision reports that Oscar-nominated Danish filmmaker Nikolaj Arcel (‘A Royal Affair,’ ‘Truth About Men,’ ‘Island Of Lost Souls’) has been set as the director for a big screen adaptation of DC/Vertigo’s long-running and acclaimed comic book series ‘Fables.’

Created by Bill Willingham, the Eisner Award-winning series centres on fairy- and folktale characters ranging from Snow White, Cinderella to the Big Bad Wolf and Little Boy Blue, who have been exiled from The Homeland and now live in a clandestine community dubbed Fabletown in New York City.

Jeremy Slater, the scribe behind 20th Century Fox’s upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, will be providing the screenplay for Arcel. David Heyman and Jeffrey Clifford of Heyday Films (‘Gravity,’ ‘Harry Potter’) are producing.
