A KNIGHT’S TALE Being Adapted for TV

Medieval tale headed to the small screen.

‘Battlestar Galactica’ developer and executive producer Ronald D. Moore is in the process of developing a small screen adaptation of Brian Helgeland’s medieval romantic adventure comedy ‘A Knight’s Tale.’

Starring Heath Ledger in his first lead role, the 2001 original centred on William Thatcher, 14th century peasant squire masquerading as a knight, who along with his companions competes in jousting tournaments. Along the way they meet such historical figures as Edward, the Black Prince of Wales and Geoffrey Chaucer.

Deadline reports that the series, like the film, will incorporate contemporary music and themes into a medieval setting. Moore, who is scripting the adaptation, will serve as executive producer along with his producing partner at Tall Ship Productions, Maril Davis, as well as Helgeland and producer Todd Black.
