A DeLorean biopic

Three DeLorean based biopics in the works but which will win out?

It looks like there is a race on to bring a DeLorean biopic to the big screen, with three projects planned about the troubled car manufacturer.


Brett Ratner is prepping a feature about John DeLorean, with Robert Evans producing and James Toback scripting.


Producers David Permut and Steven Lee Jones are also working on a project with DeLorean’s attorney Mayer Morganroth.


And the latest news suggests that Time Inc. Studio and XYZ Films have thrown their collective hats into the ring, working on a film based on articles appearing in Time and Fortune, a book entitled Grand Delusions, and an unpublished DeLorean memoir.


The story follows the entrepreneur arrested for drug trafficking in 1982 and then acquitted on the grounds that he was entrapped by the FBI. His company nevertheless went bankrupt, in spite of the fact that the DMC-12 model featured in the Back to the Future movies.
