..surprised The Fighter isn't higher and wow this list really makes me realise I need to see Drive!

  • TheSpecs

Totally agree with the above - I NEED to see Drive.

  • Starn

Fright Night,The Guard, Thor and Harry Potter. Really people!

Fright Night was actually a pretty good remake to be honest and The Gaurd was one of the funniest films of 2011.

Now can we vote on the worst movies of 2011?
My vote for that Hangover 2!

  • BIGBADBRIAN

So happy Fright Night is so high. I can't give that film enough praise. Great list, Never Let Me Go should be higher though.

I'm baffled to see Fright Night near the top, though I wouldn't disagree with Drive. Fright Night is OK but nowhere near as good as the 1985 original. I'm also disappointed that some of my own personal favourites this year don't appear on this list - Melancholia, We Need To Talk About Kevin, Blue Valentine, 50/50 and Take Shelter for example. The best film I saw this year was Super 8 and the worst was Transformers: Dark Of The Moon.

really, Transformers? Did you not see I Am Number Four?

  • masonica

I Am Number Four is Citizen Kane compared to New Year's Eve. Super 8 although quite enjoyable was a great love letter to 80's era Spielberg but the letter was like one of those spam mails you get saying how some attractive eastern european wants to marry you; lots of promise but fake. Fright Night was a pleasant surprise and glad it seemed to get some love. Drive is well deserving of it's spot but anyone now seeing it may be underwhelmed due to all the hype. Good list and 2012's will be quite interesting.

Yes, I did see I Am Number Four but there were worse films released last year. The Roommate was so hilariously bad it was almost good. I'm a Transformers fan who quite liked the first two films, but the third one made little sense, had a serious amount of overacting, 3D that only partially worked and one of the worst cases of casting I've ever seen - the pouty, can't-act-to-save-her-life wooden plank that is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley. I was so disappointed and am beginning to think that Michael Bay really is 13 years old.

Would liked to have seen kill list make the top 20, loved that movie. It's well worth a look

  • ssconnolly

Attack The Block, Submarine, Warrior, Drive, Black Swan and Midnight in Paris were my favourites of the year and only two made the Top 10. Very disappointed in this list. Some big surprises, especially Fright Night lurking up near the top.
