We bring you the facts about the star of Woody Allen’s MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT…
Everyone loves Emma Stone… Right? At Movies.ie, we certainly do, so we decided to use the excuse of Stone Starring in Woody Allen’s latest film MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT – which opens in Ireland this week – to gather up some facts about the famously flame haired actress…
1. It’s all in the Presentation…
Emma made a PowerPoint presentation – which she titled Project Hollywood – to persuade her parents to allow her to drop out of school and move to Los Angeles. The pitch was successful and she and her mother moved to LA with her schooling completed at home while she spent her days auditioning.
2. Redheads have more fun
While known as a redhead, Emma is naturally blonde. Judd Apatow suggested she change her hair colour for SUPERBAD, and she liked it so much, she kept it!
3. We could be Heroes
Stone auditioned for the role of Claire Bennet in the TV show HEROES but lost out to Hayden Panettiere. She referred to this experience as ‘rock bottom’.
4. What’s in a name?
Stone’s first name is actually Emily, but she decided to use Emma as her professional name when there was already an Emily Stone registered for her SAG card.
5. Breathe Easy
Emma discovered she was asthmatic when she had an attack while filming EASY A.
6. Spice up your life
Emma was a huge fan of the Spice Girls – her favourite being Emma ‘Baby Spice’ Bunton – and had a rather cruel prank played on her by Graham Norton, where he had her convinced that the Girls were going to jump out and surprise her when she was on his show.

Emma personally wrote Gwen Stacy’s inspiring graduation speech in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2
8. Wise Choices
Emma has paraphrased a Ryan Gosling quote about choosing roles, saying ‘There can be a lot of really great songs in a row, but then one comes on that just makes you want to dance’. In keeping with this, Emma dropped out of SUCKER PUNCH to play the lead in EASY A.
9. Gwen Stacy
Emma Stone starred in THE HELP with Bryce Dallas Howard. Both are famous redheaded actresses, and both have played the famously blonde Gwen Stacy in SPIDER-MAN movies.
10. Busy Woman
As well as this week’s MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT, Emma has another Woody Allen film in the pipeline, as well as film with Cameron Crowe, and THE CROODS 2.
MAGIC IN THE MOONLIGHT is released in Irish cinemas on September 19th 2014
